Revise is today’s prompt. It had me stumped for some time. As a teacher, revise means to observe and then change mistakes. While I do plenty of revising when I write, I couldn’t find a way to relate it to finding hope in the hard. I decided to look up revise in a thesaurus.
The synonym that stood out to me was transform. Transform is what a caterpillar does when it morphs into a butterfly. To transform means to make a drastic and significant change.
I want to be transformed. I want to suddenly stop struggling and be that person who is always full of joy and completely content. I want to curl up in a cocoon and wake up a beautiful butterfly. It doesn’t work that way though. Rather I must do as Paul states, “let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” Romans 12:2
Changing the way I think takes work, and prayer, and time. I must let God change my negative thoughts to thoughts that reflect His truths. Instead of allowing circumstances to define how I feel and think, I must choose to believe that He is still in control. When I spend time in His word, in worship, and in quiet reflection with Him, it is far easier to align my thoughts with His. His power is the only power capable of transforming a person’s thoughts and thus changing their hearts.
We just have to let Him.
