Rest is a fitting way to end 31 days of writing. All the other words are important, and they matter, but at some point there has to be rest. Rest not just for the body, but for the mind and the soul.
Rest comes in many ways. Being quiet and still can quiet the mind. Choosing to sing and listen to music can do the same. There are times when my mind and soul are renewed by crafting and creating. Taking a walk and releasing the stress of the day also gives our soul rest. When we allow our minds to rest and focus on something that brings us joy, we will find rest for our souls.
Jesus offers us the best rest. He says, “Come to me all who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 The way we find rest is to give those burdens to Him and then trust that He will take care of them. When we do so we are able to have peace instead of fear. Our shoulders no longer have to bear the weight of the burdens we so often carry. Then our mind and our soul receives rest.
