Loneliness is an epidemic. Every woman I know craves connection. We want to know each other and be known by each other. Passing each other in the hallway and exchanging small talk is no longer satisfying the need for deep relationship. We want more.
Choosing to connect with others is scary. To know someone and be known by them authenticity and vulnerability is necessary. We must allow others to see the real us and allow them to be fully themselves with us. It requires a great deal of effort and a great deal of time. Choosing not to connect, however is hurting women everywhere. When we dont have other women we can turn to and share our joy and our sorrow, our excitement and our fear, we feel alone. That loneliness contributes to depression, anxiety, and negative self esteem.
I dont know all the answers. I do know it is time to work toward making connections with others for our good and their good.
